Two big cards this Friday and Saturday as the 10 day fair, KDays wraps up.

Friday, with a first post of 6:30pm, has a nine race offering – and Saturday’s 1pm first post kicks off an 11 race card.

The first of four stakes races kick off in the 2nd on Saturday and it marks the second start of the exciting MOON DUDE in the Canadian Juvenile. In his first trip to the track MOON DUDE won by more than 11 lengths, and just missed the track record by 1/5th of a second. It was as impressive of a debut as there has been around here, and now he takes the next step forward in his career. He faces a field than is lacking a winner around two turns – even if STROLL IT looks like he has more to offer. There will be a very short price coming on MOON DUDE. The two year old girls go in the Princess Margaret which is the 4th, and it features a field that has five winners – the other EMMA JEAN TOO ran behind MOON DUDE in her debut. I MISS BACK WHEN looked sharp when running away by seven going three and a half furlongs. STREET MADE and DAZZLING CHIC did the same, it will be interesting to see who wants the distance of six furlongs in this one.

The Duchess of York is the 9th and they will have to try and beat CURLISH FIGURE again. She drew the outside post of seven and faces a couple of new shooters. CHEROKEE IN ME ships in from Vancouver following a 3rd place effort in the Monashee. She is yet to miss the board this season, and was just a couple of lengths behind Victress and Snuggles – both of whom would be a short price in this field. TARA’S WAY has won two of her three tries at Northlands and comes in off a mile victory. She should be up near the early pace, and may try and steal it. PORT PROTECTION won the John Patrick while QUALITY LANE won the Wild Rose – SMART FIX has been knocking on the door all year.

The Don Getty is the 10th and featured event and where do you land? Will KILLIN ME SMALLS be able to hold off BLUE DANCER and then the late runners READY INTAGLIO and ROYAL WARRIOR? Or will the closers turn the tables. ZIPPITY ZAP may be worth a look in his second start for the Craig Smith barn following a big win for $25k. He has good tactical ability, and should get first run on the stretch runners.

The Jackpot High 5 continues to grow with the carryover now at $37,585 heading into Friday night’s card. Make sure to join us here to watch and wager on the great action from Northlands Park!
