Super Finals are here!

There’s a huge 11 race card on tap Saturday here at Northlands Park Racetrack and Casino. With four $80k stakes finals, and four $15k consolations – there is almost $400k up for grabs in purse money.

The first consolation goes in the opener with the two year old fillies. HOT KISS, TRUE HORIZON and RUTHS CROWN ROYAL look to be the three biggest threats to get their picture taken. All three are still maidens, but have been in and amongst stakes caliber horses all season.

The two year old colts and geldings consolation goes as the 3rd, and is another wide open affair. JET JUICE may head behind the gate as the betting choice off of his 3rd place effort last time out. He was a flashy maiden winner in the race before that and could find his way to the top in this field. Catch him to cash.

The 5th is the three year old fillies consolation, and the favorite may come from the second row for Keith Clark. NIGHTIME CHASE has been 2nd in her last two trips to the track, but appears to be a couple of seconds faster than the rest of this field. She should be able to find a good spot if she can follow SIDELINE SECRETS away from the gate. JK ELLEM EHOH looks to be the most likely upsetter for Rod and Mike Hennessy.

Race 6 is the Super Finals for two year old fillies. BEARCAT JOSI suffered a rare defeat last time out at .50 cents on the dollar. She had won four of six coming into it and will be looking to get back on track. ROARING HOME drew ideally on the fence, and may speed away from this field for Keith Clark. DUANNES HORIZON could apply some pressure down the backside, and comes in off of a pair of victories.

The 7th is the final for the two year old colts and geldings, and it looks like a showdown between PARADISE HILL and OUTLAW TRUE GRIT. PARADISE HILL won the draw and got the rail, and will try and make it three straight strakes victories. OUTLAW TRUE GRIT hasn’t ever missed the exacta in eight lifetime starts, and easily cruised home in a division of the Shooting Star. He does his best work from off the pace, and could get some favorable fractions up front.

The 8th is the last of the consolations, and possibly the most wide open of the four. TAP MAN, IMAWESTERNBOY, COZ AND EFFECT BEER BRIBE and BURNTISLAND BILLY all have big shots to win. TAP MAN drew the two hole and shouldn’t be far from the front end. IMAWESTERNBOY has been knocking on the door of late, filling the trifecta in his last four. COZ AND EFFECT ran into a monster in his latest and should be happy to not see him in here. BURNTISLAND BILLY drew the outside eight, but looked fantastic winning last week and has enough gate speed to find a good spot early.

OUTLAW FIREBALL will be a very short price in the super finals for three year old fillies off of her three straight wins. She picked up a win in the Northlands Filly Pace against open horses, and then came back to win an elimination and a final of the Marquis. Watch for her flying in the stretch again. OUTLAW IMAHOTVIXEN had to settle for 2nd when she took on ‘FIREBALL in the Marquis, closing strongly through the stretch to only go down by a head. She will offer much more value than ‘FIREBALL in here.

SENGA NITRO was able to turn the tables on MATEO the last two times they met after MATEO scored in the Western Canadian Derby. ‘NITRO looked fantastic winning by five last weekend, and has a flexible racing style that gives Grundy all types of options. MATEO will leave quickly as usual, and gets Jim Marino back in the race bike. It looks like a pretty solid exacta box in the Super Finals for the three year old colts and geldings which goes as race 11.
